Subject: Interruption to service - 11 March 2008

I am writing to apologise for the interruption to all Sites4Doctos websites, including the Site Management System, which occurred earlier this afternoon. This was due to a temporary problem with the database server that stores and delivers all our site content. I was assured by 1&1 Internet’s technical support service, whom I contacted by email, their contact form and by telephone as soon as I was sure that the failure was at their end, that they were aware of the problem and were dealing with it. Shortly after this the sites came back online and have been behaving perfectly since then.

In 1&1’s defence, as far as I am aware this is the first long interruption to service on sites managed by me since I bought the hosting package in March 2001.

We hope that the loss of service did not cause too much inconvenience to you or those who use your sites.
